Osborne recently revealed on LinkedIn that he's leaving Jagex after fifteen years of content editing, narrative design, and lead design. The decision was made, as he describes, to "test his experience with the rest of the field." Osborne is leaving Jagex and moving straight to Square Enix on the publishing aspect, in the role of Senior Designer. The new role will include overseeing "some wonderful games" starting with Outriders.
This reveal led Redditor FatNWackyRS to reach out to the r/Outriders community with a brief message on Mod Osborne, describing him as the "warm, friendly "Dad" face at Jagex." FatNWackyRS describes all the things Mod Osborne has been doing for the community over the years, with a focus on clips, like performing as Mod Elfborne in order to promote Prifddinas (an Elf City in Runescape) in livestreams, joining as well as assisting in the company's vision.
Although some communities or players might be a bit upset by losing a recognizable company face, FatNWackyRS invited other Runescape players to talk about their experiences. One user, for example, feels like they've won and lost in their time playing with both Runescape as well as Outriders. Many were thrilled with this news, even those who had never interacted with Osborne before, due to this glowing review from one of the Runescape community.
The exact details of what happens on the other side of the Outriders fence remains to be seen, however Fans are aware that lots of good things are coming in the coming years to this game. Outriders' Worldslayer expansion is expected to be revealed this spring . It's set to launch in the coming year in addition to the fact that People Can Fly has a ton of other projects underway, including a new game that will be developed with Square Enix. If Osborne will be involved in that, however, is yet to be determined.
FatNWackyRS ends his post with an easy, heartfelt message to Osborne If he happens to be reading it A sincere thanks for everything he's accomplished for Runescape and warm best wishes for his time with Square Enix. "We cherish you, will miss you, and I wish you the highest amount of good fortunes in all the exciting projects with Square Enix," the Redditor wrote for the RS community.
