This being said, I believe it's about time to take a chance on the Bears as they are one year away from Super Bowl contention. The Lions might be lifeless at the moment but Chicago played on the road to a division rival with the backup quarterback in one week, and took the win. That's huge. Washington wouldn't be able to do that.
On Sunday, Chase Daniel showed why Chase Daniel is regularly paid large amount to play as a backup. He was 27-37 for 220 yards , with two scoring touchdowns. This game showed that Matt Nagy is a legit coach. It's not like he was before however, the Bears offense was able work under those circumstances. They didn't have much of a run game and still played with guys who were open all day.
Nagy made some subtle adjustments in the game that I consider to be important but are often missed. In the first half they attempted several deeper passes but Chase was a little off. It's not surprising given that Chase hasn't worked with any of these wide receivers in practice with full force. In the second half, those were gone. Shorter throws and easier completions. Great adjustments.
The Bears defense came into the game as the top defense of the Madden NFL 23 because they can do it all. They've had 34 sacks and they allow 3.6 yards per carry, tied with the Saints for the top defense in the Madden NFL 23. What takes their defense from good to fantastic is the turns. They have caused 29 turnovers and 20 interceptions that have scored points on six of those.
Though this is an offensive league the Bears are most likely the only defense that could keep pace with the Saints in the playoffs , and that gives them a chance.
